Pay quickly and securely for small purchases like a newspaper, train ticket or quick bite to eat by simply holding your debit card close to the contactless reader.
Contactless payments are processed in just the same way as payments using your card and PIN, except much faster.
Per transaction you can pay up to 50 euros contactless without a PIN code. Above 50 euros you will need your pincode.
Shopping, drinks with friends, cinema. All these items can be paid contactless up to a total amount of 150 euros. Has that maximum been reached? In that case, the payment terminal will ask you to enter your PIN. After that you can continue contactless again.
Due to the corona crisis, the limit for payments without a PIN code was temporarily raised to 50 euros. Do you make consecutive contactless payments without a PIN for more than 150 euros (e.g. 45 euros + 45 euros + 25 euros)? If so, you must insert your payment card into the terminal and enter your PIN at the time of the last payment.
You can pay by contactless online using your debit card, prepaid card or credit card. If your card has the contactless logo on it (four radio waves), you’re good to go.
When you see this symbol on a payment terminal, you’ll know that you can pay by contactless there.
